Avalanche Works is the 3rd book from Hera Publishing, who previously published "Perspectives" by Shinya Mizuno and "Industrial Divinities" by Izmojuki (reviews coming soon).

Yuui Thigo's work is very recognizable, with cute girl characters with a combination of semi-realistic but stylized proportions (if that make sense), with simple and clean shading, all contrasted with very realistic mechanical details, making clear Yuui's passion towards racing cars, motorcycles and other vehicles.

This book starts with an introduction by Yamazaki Takayuki where he talks about how he came across Yuui's work, followed by five sections with over 100 illustrations of many vehicles divided by "Four Wheels", "Two Wheels", "RC", "etc" and "Two Wheels Part Two". The visuals remind me a bit of Toriyama's classic illustrations in DB and Arale, with comically hyper-reduced-in-size but highly-detailed planes and cars.

The list of vehicles includes Subaru Leone 4WD, Suzuki Cultus, VW Jetta, Renault Alpine, Subaru R2, Claas Lexion 780, Kyosho Turbo Scorpion and motorcycles like Honda DAX, Yamaha SR400, Italjet Dragster and many more, as well as fashion design illustrations and other non-vehicle related ones.

At the end there is an interview with Yuui Thigo and the index of illustrations with the model of each vehicle.

This is a soft cover book with matte pages, clear and vibrant printing with a clean and simple editorial design.

Recommended for character designers, fans of racing cars, motorcycles, and cute anime girls.

Avalanche Works es el 3er libro de Hera Publishing, quienes anteriormente ya publicaron "Perspectives" de Shinya Mizuno e "Industrial Divinities" de Izmojuki (reviews próximamente).

El trabajo de Yuui Thigo es muy reconocible, con personajes de chicas cute en una combinación de proporciones semi-realistas y al mismo tiempo estilizadas, con un shading sencillo y limpio, todo contrastado con detalles mecánicos muy realistas haciendo clara la pasión de Yuui hacia los autos de carreras, motocicletas y otros.

Este libro inicia con una introducción por Yamazaki Takayuki donde habla como conoció el trabajo de Yuui seguido de secciones con mas de 100 ilustraciones a color de muchos vehículos divididos por "Four Wheels", "Two Wheels", "RC", "etc" y "Two Wheels part two". Las imágenes me recuerdan un poco a las ilustraciones clásicas de Toriyama en DB y Arale, con aviones y autos cómicamente hiper-reducidos en tamaño pero altamente detallados.

Este es un libro de pasta blanda y paginas en acabado mate, con una impresión clara y brillante con un diseño editorial limpio y sencillo.

Recomendado a diseñadores de personajes, aficionados a los autos de carreras, motocicletas y chicas anime cute.
