CITRUS is a compilation book (tankobon) by Japanese illustrator popman3580, known especially on twitter and pixiv for his cute and dynamic style, making collaborations with fashion brands and character design, becoming well known for his exhibition "Charm" in 2020.

Despite being a small book, I was surprised by the amount and variety of content. Starting with a host of brightly colored illustrations and characters with a heavy load of fashion design. The movement and attention to detail that he gives to each piece is remarkable, as well as mastering the use of perspective.

About 1/5 of the book are drawing techniques, with step-by-step instructions (in Japanese but you can use the camera tool in the Google Translate app) from the rough sketch, use of brushes and references, color, line art and the finished piece.

The end of the book (about another 1/5) is a sketch book with many sketches of his thought process and idea.

If your you're into cute girls at 100%, this book is for you. Recommended for character designers, fashion designers, and anime lovers.

CITRUS es un libro recopilatorio (tankobon) del ilustrador japonés popman3580, conocido especialmente en twitter y pixiv por su estilo cute y dinámico haciendo colaboraciones con marcas de moda y diseño de personajes, dándose a conocer por su exposición "Charm" en 2020.

A pesar de ser un libro pequeño, me sorprendió la cantidad y variedad de contenido. Iniciando con una gran cantidad de ilustraciones de colores brillantes y personajes con una gran carga de diseño de moda. Es notorio el movimiento y atención al detalle que le da a cada pieza además de dominar el uso de perspectiva.

Cerca de 1/5 del libro son técnicas de dibujo, con secciones de paso por paso (en japonés pero puedes usar la herramienta de cámara en la app de Google Translate) desde el rough sketch, uso de brushes y referencias, color y line arts finales.

El final del libro (aproximadamente otro 1/5) es un sketch book con muchos sketches de su proceso mental e ideas.

Si lo tuyo son 100% chicas cute, este libro es para ti. Recomendado para diseñadores de personajes, de moda y amantes del anime.
