I learned about Jakub Rozalski's work for the board game "Scythe" several years ago and I acquired this book around 2019. It has been published for a few years but it seems to me that it is a book that deserves more recognition.

Jakub's technique is very much based on western concept art rendering, with loose strokes and familiar and effective compositions.

The book is divided into 6 "phases", each one takes a particular concept; The Ancients, World of 1920+, Apocalypse Day, Wolf Pack 1863, Folk Stories and Tutorials.

I really like that they have decided to use a landscape format, I think it helps to better show the digital paintings without having to cut them in the middle as in the case of Simon Stålenhag's books that have a square format. The book is hardcover with thick, brightly colored pages, plus the second edition came with an exclusive cardboard art print.

I highly recommend this if you are a concept artist, you like steampunk-style robots and mechas, and fans of cinematic-style art books.

I also highly recommend visiting Jakub's website since in his portfolio he has many pieces that he accompanies with step-by-step images and videos of his creation process.

Conocí el trabajo de Jakub Rozalski por el juego de mesa "Scythe" hace varios años y adquirí este libro al rededor del 2019. Tiene algunos años desde su publicación pero me parece que es un libro que merece mas reconocimiento.

La técnica de Jakub esta muy basada en el render de concept art occidental, con trazos sueltos y composiciones familiares y efectivas.

EL libro esta dividido en 6 "fases", cada una toma un concepto en particular; The Ancients, World of 1920+, Apocalypse Day, Wolf Pack 1863, Folk Stories y Tutorials.

Realmente me gusta que hayan decidido por usar un formato tipo paisaje, creo que ayuda a mostrar mejor las pinturas digitales sin tener que cortarlas por en medio como en el caso de los libros de Simon Stålenhag que tienen un formato cuadrado. El libro es de pasta dura con paginas gruesas y de colores brillantes, además la segunda edición venia con un art print exclusivo en cartón.

Recomiendo mucho este si eres concept artista, te gustan los robots y mechas con estilo steampunk y a fans de libros de arte con estilo cinemático.

También recomiendo mucho visitar el website de Jakub ya que en su portafolio tiene muchas piezas que acompaña con imágenes paso-a-paso y videos de su proceso de creación.
