Abyss.

(Open World Adventure Game)

01_THE_PROJECT
Abyss its the next Open World Adventure Book by ITB. This time is set in Berlin on the 1930s following a thiller story with a noir visual style.
I can't say too much about it right now but I'm very excited for this project. For now I can share the cover art and The Lighthouse chapter art. More information and art coming soon.

For the cover art ITB asked me for a classic noir style, something that evoke a misterious andgritty feeling with some references of 30s graphic design and illustration. We went for a train arriving to the train station with our faceless protagonist walking towards us. I also hand painted a place holder title design just to give myself an idea of how the red color could work with the rest of the composition. I really liked how this cover ends up.

TheLighthouse

The Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse was the first chapter I decided to work and explore the setting and style. This is probably going to change in the near future as I continue progressing on the story and inmmerse myself on the setting of Abyss.

Even whe the setting, story and style of Abyss is very different of Alba, we decided to keep a consistent visual language so both books (and future ones) can feel as a part of a collection.

I'm still using a limited set of pencils and brushes.

- Derwent Pencil for initial sketching, base drawing and large background sections (with physical 5 degree angle on the Apple Pencil).
- 6B Pencil for hard surfaces and deep black areas.
- Fresco Painting brush for rough textures, smoke and other effects.

This limited use of brushes, combined with a also limited number of layers keeps me from going crazy with effects or other tools that could deviate from the original style. Making and following a series of rules and limits for myself has been incredibly helpful, not only with Alba and Abyss but for other new projects.

I will update this section as soon ITB have updates the project on their respective social networks.
You can visit and follow ITB and Open World Adventure Books to stay tuned on the news about Abyss inminent Kickstarter campaing.
