01_THE PROJECT
Nina Wake Up! its a project started in 2017 that has been changing a lot trough the years. First, the game was envisioned as a 3D adventure platformer and then got stuck in a long hiatus. Years passed and development was slow but at the same time, it give me the time to re-think the mistakes I made and what I have to do to now to make it a viable reality.
I'm currently developing NWU! keeping the original storytelling but with a very different execution so, this handful of illustrations and designs remain as a nice reminder of what it was and how Nina and her world evolved of what is becoming now.
NWU! is still TBA, but I'm very happy of the results of the new approach, I hope I can show some new artworks very soon.
- The last poster I illustrated and designed that represents the first iteration of NWU!. Adobe Photoshop. 2019.
- I really liked the mood of this one and still want this as a playable level on the new iteration. Adobe Photoshop. 2019.
02_CHARACTERS
Nina is a introverted little girl with a passion for computers. Her favorite things to do are making silly video games in her powerful 3.5 Mhz Spectrum computer and playing with Maya, her adorable and loved dog.
Nina and Maya are the main characters of NWU!, game mechanics are designed around the interaction between them and how they can learn and grow with the player. Even when these designs are very early, I'm keeping them for the new iteration of the game, so expect more of them in the nea future.

03_ENVIRONMENTS
This is a series of concept artworks I did for the game, exploring some first ideas of environments and situations, from Nina's cardboard box to a gritty train station at Rat City.
Some of these pieces were shown at the Game Connection/GDC 2018 in San Francisco with a great reception from publishers.

04_SO, WHERE'S THE GAME?
NWU! is an evolving project that has taken much time and effort so I want it to offer be the best experience possible.
I hope to be releasing some new artwork and gameplay soon.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FREE
All my illustration and writing work is free of AI. I'm a firm believer that using AI platforms, datasets and neuronal networks to reduce, replace or assist human creativity in a creativity-based work is lazy and unethical. Support the genuine human thought.
